Discount Calculator

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage, then divide by 100 to get the discount amount. Subtract that from the original price to get the sale price. For example, 25% off $80: $80 × 25 ÷ 100 = $20 discount. Sale price = $80 - $20 = $60.

Divide the sale price by (1 - discount percentage/100). For example, if an item is $60 after 25% off: $60 ÷ (1 - 0.25) = $60 ÷ 0.75 = $80 original price.

Stacked discounts are applied sequentially, not added together. A 20% off + 10% off is NOT 30% off. Instead: first apply 20% to get a new price, then apply 10% to that reduced price. Example: $100 → 20% off = $80 → 10% off = $72 (not $70).

Percentage off reduces the price by a proportion (e.g., 30% off $100 = $30 savings). Dollars off reduces by a fixed amount (e.g., $30 off $100). The percentage discount's value changes with the original price, while dollars off is always the same amount.

Divide the discount amount by the original price, then multiply by 100. For example, if an item was $120 and is now $90: ($120 - $90) ÷ $120 × 100 = 25% off.
